Rajib Islam, 22, Bangladesh

I am Rajibul Islam. I am studying BBA (Major in Marketing) at IBA, Jahangirnagar University, Savar, Dhaka. I am working with HOPE'87, Bangladesh as a volunteer. Besides I am a member of National Youth Council of Bangladesh (NYCB), Commonwealth Youth Network of Bangladesh (CYNB), Nexus University Students Association (NUSA), UNFPA-National Youth Forum etc. I get involved in voluntary activities in 1997 as a Club Scout and received Shapla Cub President's Scout Award from Bangladesh Scouts. I always dream for such a world where no people would die for poverty. And I believe working together we the young people around the world can make it possible. Together we can certainly bring better changes.

Kate Salvatierra, 21, Peru

My name is Kate Salvatierra, I am 21, and I study Translation and Interpretation. I have participated in several volunteer groups and organizations aimed to help children and youngsters. I have been participating for two years in the youth NGO Native of Peru which is aimed to improve Peruvian children’s living standards through a non-formal complementary education, and currently I am the Coordinator Organization.

Fanny Charmey, 25 ans, stage au Caméroun

Fanny a 25 ans, vient de la région morgienne et termine actuellement des études en linguistique comparée et science politique à l'université de Zürich. Fanny s'engage depuis plusieurs années dans la sensibilisation des idées et organes onusiens auprès des jeunes. Elle est convaincue qu'une meilleures connaissances de l'ONU permettrait une utilisation plus efficace de ses outils, et ainsi d'accomplir plus aisément ses nobles et ambitieux idéaux. Après avoir fait ses premières armes comme Vice-Présidente du MUN Team Zürich, elle est actuellement la présidente de JUNES, le Réseau Suisse Jeunesse-ONU, ainsi que la Secrétaire Générale de GIMUN, Geneva International Model United Nations. Active dans différentes autres associations nationales, Fanny aime s'engager et mener à bien des projets d'envergure. Lors de son stage au sein du Conseil National des Jeunes au Cameroun, elle aura l'opportunité, entre autres tâches, de développer un concept de Model United Nations dans ce pays. En tant que directrice du JunesMUN 2011 et de l'Assemblée Fédérale des Jeunes pour l'ONU 2011, elle se réjouit d'utiliser ses connaissances dans un environnement tropical.

Mathilde Bussard, 27 ans, stage au Pérou

Mathilde, 27 ans, est fraîchement diplômée en ethnologie. Forte d’expériences variées à l’étranger (en Allemagne, Bolivie et Russie notamment), elle a eu l’occasion d’acquérir des outils pratiques et méthodologiques grâce à un stage au bureau du Service Civil International, branche Suisse à Berne, ces six derniers mois. Mathilde s’engage principalement pour la non-violence et l’éducation à la paix. Membre de la Croix-Rouge Jeunesse de Neuchâtel, elle contribue à la diffusion de ce message en présentant l’exposition « Moi, raciste ? » dans des écoles. Mathilde sera stagiaire au Pérou auprès de l’organisation Native of Peru dès août 2011. Cet engagement est le prélude d’un volontariat de trois ans en Bolivie, dans un projet d’empowerment des femmes de la communauté guarani.

Noah Wong, 23 Jahre, Praktikum im Bangladesh

Noah studiert an der Universität Zürich Ethnologie und Islamische Welt. Im Rahmen seines Studiums hat er 2009 eine drei Wöchige ethnologische Feldforschung im südlichen Kasachstan durchgeführt. Seit 2009 steht er im Vorstand der Kommission für Entwicklungsfragen der Universität und der ETH Zürich (www.kfe.uzh.ch), eine studentische Organisation die sich als Schnittstelle zwischen Studium und Entwicklungszusammenarbeit versteht und dabei Projekte mit unterschiedlichen Thematiken im In-und Ausland unterstützt. Im Sommer 2011 wird er, im Rahmen des Südprojekts der SAJV, ein zwei Monatiges Praktikum im National Youth Council of Bangladesh (www.nycbd.org)absolvieren.

Lis Schneider, 26 Jahre, 3. African University on Youth and Development in Capo Verde

Lis Schneider, 26, studiert Sozial- und Umweltpsychologie sowie Wirtschaft an der Universität Zürich. Seit 2008 ist sie Präsidentin der Kommission für Entwicklungsfragen der Universität und der ETH Zürich www.kfe.uzh.ch, eine studentische Organisation die sich mit Entwicklungszusammenarbeit auseinandersetzt und sowohl Projekte im Ausland betreut, als auch Konferenzen und Workshops zur Weiterbildung der Studierenden in der Schweiz organisiert. Im Rahmen der 3. African University on Youth and Development findet ein strategisches Treffen auf der Insel Sal, Capo Verde, statt. Dieses Meeting wird von der African Diaspora Youth Network Europe (ADYNE) organisiert. Von dem 15. bis zum 22. Mai 2011 werden sich verschiedene afrikanische Partner und Organisationen treffen, um zusammen einen Aktionsplan für die nächsten Jahren zu erstellen und Lösungen hinsichtlich der Probleme junger Afrikaner im europäischen Raum, herauszuarbeiten. Ziel ist es eine bessere Zusammenarbeit zwischen der Jugend in Afrika und Europa zu ermöglichen. Lis wird die SAJV sowie die KfE an diesem strategischen Meeting vertreten.

Robert Petron Messe, 29 ans, Cameroun

Jeune Camerounais âgé de 29 ans, est diplômé de l'Institut Universitaire de Technologie de Douala. Il est en fin d'étude d'un master II option Hygiène, Sureté, Sécurité Industrielle et Environnement à la Faculté de Génie Industrielle de L'université de Douala. Il entretient le leaderschip en milieu jeune dès son entée à l'Université. Aujourd'hui, il préside aux destinées de la jeunesse Camerounaise en tant que Vice-président du Conseil National de la Jeunesse. Par ailleurs, il représentera la jeunesse de son pays au forum des jeunes à Addis Abeba en ETHIOPIE en prélude au sommet des chefs d'Etats et de gouvernements de l'Union Africaine qui se tiendra en juillet prochain à Malabo en Guinée Equatoriale.

Inès RIGO TSAKIRA, 24 ans, GABON

Inès étudie les civilisations et les littératures du monde anglophone à l’université Omar Bongo. Elle est depuis 1an et demi membre du Conseil National de la Jeunesse du Gabon. Elle est également, depuis de nombreuses années, très active à l’association Jeunesse du Monde. Du 04 au 12 août 2010, elle a participé en Egypte à l’année Internationale de la Jeunesse consacrée au thème Dialogue et Compréhension mutuelle.

Alexander Barclay, 24 ans, International Youth Forum on Climat change in Jakarta

Alexander Barclay a étudié les relations internationales et l’économie à l’Université de Saint-Gall. Il a participé au International Youth Forum On Climate Change à Jakarta en Indonésie du 22 février au 1 mars 2011 organisé par le Indonesian National Youth Council (KNPI) et le World Assembly of Youth (WAY). Cette conférence a permis à 28 délégués internationaux ainsi qu’à de nombreux participants locaux de se familiariser avec les défis posés à l’Indonésie par le changement climatique. Après trois jours de conférence à Jakarta, les participants ont participé à une des trois excursions: Kalimantan central sur le thème des forêts; l’île de Komodo sur le thème de la biodiversité; enfin le Sulawesi du sud sur le thème de la vie marine. La résolution finale fait appel aux organisations de jeunesse de part le monde à s’engager sur la thématique du changement climatique.

Steffi Krauer, 24 Jahre, 21st International Youth Forum in Seoul

Steffi Krauer hat in Zürich Politikwissenschaft und Ethnologie studiert und ist seit 2009 europäische Delegierte der SAJV. Daneben sitzt sie für die SAJV im Advisory Council des Europarates und arbeitet als Generalsekretärin für die yes (young european swiss). 2005 war sie für ein Sozialpraktikum in Südafrika, 2007 verbrachte sie einen Monat in Madagaskar in einem von Nouvelle Planète organisierten Workcamp. Steffi wird die SAJV vom 18.-25. August am 21st International Youth Forum in Seoul vertreten. Thema des Events wird die Rolle der Jugend in der Umsetzung der Kairo Agenda sein. Der Schwerpunkt liegt dabei vor allem auf Family Dignity, Public Health und Sustainable Development.

Sandra Egli, 28 Jahre, Praktikum in Burkina Faso

Sandra Egli absolviert von September bis November 2010 ein Praktikum beim „Réseau Africain Jeunesse Santé et Développement (RAJS)“ in Burkina Faso. Das RAJS setzt sich dafür ein, dass junge Burkinerinnen und Burkinern die Zukunft ihres Landes aktiv mitgestalten können. Ein Schwerpunkt des RAJS liegt bei der Gesundheitsprävention. Sandra Egli engagiert sich seit mehreren Jahren für Pro Natura Jugend. 2008 war sie Mitglied des Organisationskomitees von „Ökotopia“, dem nationalen Jugendnaturschutztreffen von Pro Natura. Seit 2009 ist sie Mitglied der Arbeitsgruppe Internationales von Pro Natura Jugend. Sandra Egli hat Politikwissenschaft studiert und arbeitete bis Juli 2010 für die Abteilung für Gleichstellung von Frauen und Männern der Universität Bern.

Jacqueline Douniama, 22, Panama

Mein Name ist Jacqueline Douniama und ich bin Mitglied bei der Jugendaustausch-Organisation ICYE. Letztes Jahr absolvierte ich einen 8-monatigen Sozialeinsatz in Ecuador und bin seit meiner Rückkehr aktiv bei ICYE engagiert. Dieses Engagement beinhaltet die Vorbereitung der Austauschkandidaten durch Seminare, die Betreuung und Unterstützung ausländischer Volontäre in der Schweiz sowie Sensibilisierungsarbeiten zu kulturellen Themen an Schulen durch Workshops. Ich freue mich diesen Sommer zwei Monate im Consejo Nacional de la Juventud, einem Dachverband für Jugendorganisationen, in Panama arbeiten zu dürfen. Ende September werde ich dann ein Studium der internationalen Beziehungen an der Universität Genf aufnehmen.

Ilona Meier, 23, Forum Jugendsession Schweiz, Bangladesh

Ilona Meier wird im Sommer 2010 für 2 Monate ein Praktikum bei der “National federation of Youth organization” in Bangladesch (NFYOB) absolvieren. Sie studiert an der Universität Zürich Politik- und Umweltwissenschaften und ist seit mehreren Jahren im Forum Jugendsession (www.jugendsession.ch), der politischen Lobbyorganisation der Jugendsession, tätig. Sie konnte dabei wertvolle Erfahrungen in der Politik sammel. Es ist ihr dabei ein grosses Anliegen, dass auch die junge Generation am politischen Prozess partizipieren kann. Wenn es nicht gelingt allen jungen Menschen dieser Welt eine Perspektive zu bieten, sind Bildung, Wohlstand, Sicherheit und Demokratie langfristig nicht gesichert.

Tashmia Dola, 23, Bangladesh

Tashmia Kabir Dola came to Switzerland for Youth Leader Traineeship from Bangladesh which is the country of asia doing her MEDICINE degree on GONOSHWASTHYA SHAMAJVITTIK MADICAL COLLEGE and on other side she is an executive member of National federation of Youth organization in Bangladesh.She has been working as a volunteer since when she was 12year.She worked with organization named Dhakabashi,FRIENDS OF THE EARTH and she was a active member of the Debating club and Science club of her school and college named VIQARUNNISA NOON SCHOOL AND COLLEGE.She thinks that It takes a village to grow a child but it takes a world to grow a tree..So it does not matter how small we may be as long we youth are together and love this world we all are one...

Jiniva Serrano, 23, Panama

Jiniva comes from Panama, where she attends Universidad Latina as senior student of the English B.A program with a Minor in Translation, and is the coordinator of the Tutoring Cirlce at the campus‘ Science Club (Club de Ciencias). She also works as volunteer for Panama’s National Youth Council (Consejo Nacional de la Juventud – Panamá) since 2004 as organizer of informational meetings at a regional and national level, and as representative of the Youth Council of Veraguas province (Consejo de Juventud de Veraguas). Jiniva arrived Switzerland at the middle of April to be trained at the SNYC and accomplish an internship with Tapori foundation in Geneva.

Julia Bangerter, 22, Foro Latinoamericano de Juventud, Uruguay

Julia is a student of Social Anthropology and Science of Media and Communication at the University of Fribourg. Since many years, she has been very active in the organization for International Cultural Youth Exchange ICYE. She helps organizing camps and holds information sessions, among others. Doing so, she prepares young Swiss for their internship abroad and supports foreign volunteers in managing the struggles of daily life in Switzerland. In the context of South Project, Julia represents the Swiss Council of Youth Activities (SAJV) at the Foro Latinoamericano de Juventud in Uruguay.

Julie Perrenoud, 22, traineeship at Impacto in Argentina

Julie studies at Lausanne University and is member of the association Unipoly for sustainable development where she is very active as project leader. She is also member of the organization Nouvelle Planète. Within the framework of South Project, Julie is going to Argentina for two months to accomplish a traineeship with the NGO Impacto.

Sibylle Baumgartner, 21, traineeship at the Youth Council of Cambodia in Cambodia

Sibylle studies social sciences at Zurich University. She is for many years member of Blauring and works as head group. She will accomplish in January and Febraury 2010 a two-months traineeship in Cambodia with YCC (Youth Council of Cambodia). Article in idee jubla PDF

Mariam Azeem, 28, Pakistan

Mariam Azeem, was visiting Switzerland for the traineeship in SNYC. She works with the Youth Parliament of Pakistan as a district project manager for Rawalpindi district where she focuses and work on the youth and the volunteerism in her organization. She aims to inspire them to become active and responsible citizens and invigorate youth of Pakistan to involve them in social action projects to bring a positive change in the disadvantaged communities. She is also working on the development of volunteer management system.

Michèle Marti, 23, 8th Asia-Europe Young Volunteers Exchange (AEYVE), Thailand

Michèle studies communication and media sciences in Zurich. Since many years, she’s a volunteer within the Scouts movement in Switzerland. From 21st August to 4th September 2009 she was taking part in the 8th Asia-Europe Young Volunteers Exchange (AEYVE) on the theme of Intercultural Approaches to Environmental Sustainability.

Melanie Aardalsbakke, 25, Training Course on Africa-Europe Youth Cooperation 2009 – 2010, Côte d’Ivoire

Melanie is a student at the University of Zurich and volunteers for the Youth Section of the Swiss Red Cross in Zurich. She was taking part in the “Long Term Training Course for Trainers on Africa-Europe Youth Cooperation 2009-2010” organized by the North-South Centre of the Council of Europe in the frame of the Youth-Partnership between the Council of Europe and the European Commission. The first residential seminar, which took place in Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire, from 12-19 July 2009, will be followed by a practical phase and individual personal development as a trainer in the Africa-Europe context and end with the second residential seminar in June or July 2010. Alexandra Strebel, 26, traineeship at the National Youth Council of Gabon

Alexandra studied sociology at Geneva university and is a member of the SCI-Switzerland comitee. She is the first Swiss who went to a South country for the Youth for Development exchange programm. She was two months with the National Youth Council of Gabon. From the end of June she has participated at current discussions about the role of young people and youth organizations in Gabon and she has organised for example a workshop on peace education. Jacqueline Osei-Owusu, 25, Ghana

Jacqueline comes from Ghana and is the vice-president of the « West African Network of Young Female Leaders ». She arrived at the beginning of July to Switzerland and has accomplished a one-month traineeship at the SNYC. During August she participated in many activities with ICYE (International Cultural Youth Exchange) as the organizer and cordinator of an introduction camp for 20 exchangees arriving in Switzerland as volunteer workers.

Maria de los Ángeles Mejía, 26, Honduras

Maria is the first trainne we welcomed in Switzerland for our exchange programm with youth organizations in the South. Maria works as volunteer for Honduras' National Youth Forum (Foro Nacional de Juventud) and brings her experiences in the field of youth work and development cooperation.
