South project
The goal of South project is to develop youth participation in the south, to sensitize Swiss youth to development cooperation and to support youth in the South and in the north in the realization of their own project ideas.
The project is carried out by the SNYC and financially supported by the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC). The project will begin a pilot phase of three years in the beginning of 2009. The steps to reaching these goals are applied on three levels. This way, the project can be adapted to existing needs within the field:
- Facilitated access to financing for small-scale projects
- Capacity building in youth organizations
- Trade of know-how at the level of national umbrella organizations
With these three measures, which go hand in hand and complement one another, South Project supports strong youth today and tomorrow and is committed to ensuring that young people take advantage of their potential and are able to act as active citizens in their surroundings.
